How To Enable the Adobe PDF Reader in Google Chrome

Go to the Chrome address bar and type in chrome://plugins/ (see below) and hit the Enter key.

Disabling the Integrated PDF Viewer

Once you’re in the plugins menu, head down to the Chrome PDF Viewer plugin and click on Disable to disable the plugin

Enabling Adobe Acrobat Reader

You can then scroll back up and enable the Adobe PDF plugin by clicking on Enable

IMPORTANT: if it says "Disable" the plugin is actually Active and needs to be disabled by clicking on it.
